Maharana Udai Singh was founded the city of lakes Udaipur. udaipur history is very famous in India. It is also said that rulers of Udaipur never gave their women in marriage to Mughals unlike some of other rulers of Rajputana. It was the capital of Mewar so it takes an important place in history of udaipur. The history related Founding the city udaipur is also very interesting. It is said that maharana udai Singh was advised by a holy man that he have to Build the new capital of mewar near the Lake Pichola. after the advice of that holy man maharana udai singh has made the city udaipur. Rana Pratap was also ruled udaipur during 1572 to 1597 who has made the history of udaipur. maharana pratap was a legendary hero who refuse to mughals and then fight them in the battlefield of Haldighati.

More recently in 1985 Maharaja Baghwat Singh turned many palaces into hotels died and his two sons became entangled in a battle over palaces and associated wealth. The elder son Maharana Mahendra Singh inherited the title of Maharana only and the bulk of the palaces went to his younger brother Arvind Singh.

After Independence of India maharana of Udaipur at the forefront of a campaign by the princely states to join the democratic and independent India and then udaipur surrendered its Sovereignty and became a part of a United India.
